The FUTURE OF BLOCKCHAIN is a university competition for developers and entrepreneurs with 27 prizes of £2k to £20k.
Structure
- Step 1: Enter the Competition before 1st December 2018 by registering on this website or attending a launch event.
- Step 2: Choose to build your own idea or answer a partner challenge.
- Step 3: Your time starts on Monday 3rd December and you have to submit your project by Sunday 10th March.
- Step 4: Build! It can be new or something you’ve worked on before. All we ask if that you work on it over 3 months and show progress!
- Step 5: Attend the workshops happening every few weeks at your campus – those that turn up will have more chance of winning a prize!
- Step 6: Be selected to win a min £2k prize and pitch for the top prize at demo day in March 2019.
Entry Criteria
- At least one member of your team is a student, academic, affiliate or alumni or the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, KCL or Queen Mary University.
- Teams can be 1-6 people
- Be able to work on your project from December to March 2019
- Your project can be something you have worked on before the competition has started however it should not have been a funded startup. If you are not sure whether your idea is eligible, drop us an email!
- Be able to attend bi-weekly workshops in Oxford, Cambridge, London during term time
Pick one challenge
Open Challenge
- Build your own idea from scratch – it can be anything you like so long as it involves blockchain in some way
- The project can be a business idea, a startup, a demo, a dApp or a Research paper.
- You’ll be asked to submit this project by Sunday 10th March 2019.
- You’ll be assigned from our network a mentor to help you while you build your project. This mentor will provide a weekly office hours slot to help you
- Only overall top prizes available (1st = £20k, 2nd = £10k, 3rd: £5k)
Partner Challenges
- If you want a higher chance of winning a cash prize and more hands-on mentorship with some of the smartest blockchain engineers, enter one of the defined challenges set by our 8 Partner Projects. This will involve utilizing a Partner platform within your project .
- You will be provided with SDKs and documentation
- You will also be assigned an appropriate mentor from the partner platform you are building on. They will provide a weekly slot for office hours to assist you
- There are three bounties of £2,000 available for participants of each Partner Challenge, as well as the overall top prizes (1st = £20k, 2nd = £10k, 3rd = £5k)
Prizes
- 24 x £2,000 Bounties as above, plus:
- 1st: £20,000 cash
- 2nd: £10,000 cash
- 3rd: £5,000 cash
- Seed investment for viable project winners
